It's Not Too Late!

Most years, we like to participate in Operation Christmas Child, and pack some shoe boxes full of Christmas gifts for children who otherwise wouldn't receive any. But the last two years, I've remembered too late, and we didn't get to participate. This year, I was reminded just in time that this is the collection week. So I showed Lauren the video above, and we will all go tomorrow to buy some gifts and pack them up. Lauren said she wants to pack a box for a 5-year-old girl and put a baby doll in it, because it would be really sad not to have a doll.

If you watch the video above, you'll probably want to join in, too. Here is a link with more info: Operation Christmas Child. You can pack up a shoebox or two, and take it to a collection site near you, which you can find right here. This year, you can even follow your box online and find out exactly where it goes. It will be awesome to share with Lauren about where her gift ends up!

Let Me Explain...

Hello dear family and friends! If you're a faithful reader of our little blog, then things might look a little different to you--more specifically, where did all the content go?? Let me try to explain...

My blog was public for almost five years, and I liked it that way. But gradually, more red flags popped up and I became concerned about putting so much information about my family online, open for anyone to read. That's when the blog went private. That is also when my readers went from about 35 a day to 3-5 a day. :( I was glad to be blocking out the unknown, but sad that I also seemed to be making it too hard for most of you to check in on a daily basis. One of the biggest problems was that a private blog does not show up on reader lists (like Google Reader) so no one knew when there was a new blog post. Here is my creative way to work around all of that.

What you are reading right now (www.alittleweyel.blogspot.com) is once again a public blog, open to anyone who cares to check it out--which is why all of the content about our family has been removed. That content still exists in cyberspace at a new site (www.alittleweyelprivate.blogspot.com). That site is private, and you must log in to read it. Any time I create a new post on the private blog, I'll let you know about it right here (on the public blog), with a link to the post. You'll be able to click on the link, sign in, and read it. But you'll also be able to follow this blog through Google Reader or a similar site, and easily check for new posts without signing in.

Confused yet? The bottom line is that you don't have to do anything different. :) Keep checking in at www.alittleweyel.blogspot.com, just as you always have, and keep it on your reader lists. Since it is public again, you won't have to jump through any extra hoops to do this. And whenever there is a new post to read, I'll tell you about it here and you can follow the link to the private blog post. (No need to sign up again for the private blog. If you had access before, you still have access now.)

Sorry for making this so complicated! I want to share our lives with you in the safest possible way, and I hope this change will make it a little easier to do so. Please keep reading, and remember that I love to read your comments. I'll be back soon with posts about Lauren's first trip to the movies, our fourth of July celebration, and all of the summer happenings around here!
