17 Months

Lauren will be 17 months old on Sunday, so I decided to give her a cute hairstyle and take a few pictures of her this morning. Much easier said than done. Have I mentioned how difficult it is to comb the hair of a squirming toddler? And how frustrating it is to get a good picture of a child that only smiles when she's moving? But we persevered, and here are a few of the results. At 17 months, Lauren is VERY busy. She loves to be active, to go places, and to be outside. She likes to be our little assistant and "helps" mommy with emptying the dishwasher and daddy with sweeping the driveway. She is saying many more words than I can count and is always identifying things or imitating us. Sesame Street is still a favorite, and she enjoys watching her Boz, Baby Einstein, and Elmo DVDs. She has also developed a favorite blanket that she calls "Bubba" and she snuggles with it when she sleeps. She has her own table and chairs that she loves to sit at and color, serve tea, or eat a snack. We are working on counting now, thanks to Sesame Street. When I say, "What comes after one?" Lauren says, "Twoooooooooo!" She is generally a happy child when she is not sick or on a long car ride. She does have the occasional tantrum, but they usually end quickly when she realizes we're ignoring it. She has also learned the word no, but thankfully doesn't use it too much--yet.I took many more pictures this morning and I'll share them with you if you are interested. Please feel free to leave a comment and let me know--it's getting lonely around here!

Carolyn, thanks the the Lauren update! It's cool to hear how she's developing. From what I understand she's talking early! Is that right? She must be really smart. :)
In the middle picture she looks a lot like Gary. :)
Do you like having a toddler or an infant better?

Wow, I can't believe she is already 17 months old. It seems like not to long ago we met at Madonna Inn, and you were still pregnant!! I'm glad all is well. I check your blog out at least once a week!!

Oh, we've been wanting to get a table and chairs for Isaac, now I have to go out and get one cause Lauren looks so cute playing there. Glad to see mom in the picture too, I keep meaning to get in more pictures, but I'm always behind the camera.
