Merry Christmas!

We have been busy with Christmas festivities at our house, getting ready to enjoy our three Christmas celebrations. (One with Grandma & Grandpa Weyel, one with Grandma and Grandpa Lillo, and one on our own.) Lauren is going to think it's Christmas every day! She is a very blessed little girl.We attempted a visit to Santa Claus last weekend. Lauren was excited to go see him, but quickly changed her mind once she actually saw him. So we just took a picture outside of his "house" instead. She did get to ride on the carousel, which she loved, and we took a nice walk by the creek in San Luis. This Christmas season has been fun as Lauren begins to understand what it's all about. She is at a great stage (most of the time) and has started saying some of the cutest things. We love to hear what she thinks about in her little mind. Here are some examples from the past few weeks:

*Our neighbors have a giant inflatable Santa in their front yard, and Lauren loves to watch it at night. But the first time she saw it during the day, all deflated, she said, "Christmas broken!"

*She has a Christmas book that plays Silent Night, but it's starting to run out of batteries. When it doesn't work, she says, "Mommy, Baby Jesus batteries!"

*When we were driving in the car to get our Christmas tree, Lauren suddenly said, "Jesus in the car!" We have no idea where this came from, as we have never discussed Jesus being in the car before. But I guess, in a way, she was right!

*Lauren has started to pray for our dinners by herself. In her sweetest voice she says, "Thank you, Jesus, for our food. Amen." We love it. :)

*She has also become very encouraging lately. In the last few days she has said to me: "Don't worry, Mommy." "Good job, Mommy!" "I'm so proud of you!" I guess you can tell we say these things to her a lot!Have a wonderful Christmas, everyone!

that is just so precious, Carolyn! I remembered when Aidan just turned 2 too ... he would talk about the sweetest things and say them in the cutest way!

we visited Santa and the carousel last night and Aidan's experience was identical to Lauren. Santa did say hi to Aidan from inside (we were just outside that white fence), and Aidan thought that was cool .. but that as close as he was going to get :). Santa attempted to say hi to Aidan again while we were riding the carousel and I thought my boy was gonna jump off of the horse! Santa caught him off guard ... certainly didn't bode well for Santa!! crazy old man :).
