Whenever we ask Jon how old he is, he now answers with an emphatic, "I fwee!" and an attempt to hold up just 3 fingers. He was actually (and thankfully) quite excited about his birthday this year, and even chose his own theme for the party: Toy Story. We had a very small family gathering last Saturday to celebrate his day, and I continue to be grateful that he was able to share in the joy at his own celebration. (He thoroughly hated his second birthday, so it encourages me that we've come a long way.) He had fun opening his gifts with the family, but with each one he would run into the other room so he could play with it all by himself. When it came time for cake, I asked him if we could sing to him (since that was one of his worst moments last year) and he said yes and then actually stood there smiling while we sang. He even blew out his candles on his own. I know it all sounds very normal, but it is an exceptional thing for our little Jon and I am thankful that we could celebrate him in a way that he could enjoy. A few pictures are below and a whole bunch more can be found at our photo site (password: alittleweyel).
The day after Jon's birthday, our family made a quick visit to See Canyon Fruit Ranch for fresh apples. It is always a joy to see the cousins all together! Again, more pictures of this can be found at our photo site, although I think I like this one of the four kids the best:
Happy fall, y'all!
