Costume choices were pretty easy this year. Jon loves Toy Story, and I had seen Buzz Lightyear jammies around, so I thought that would be perfect for him. A character he likes + pajamas that he'll actually wear = Jon's ideal costume. As you can see, he was a happy boy!
Lauren wanted to choose her own costume, of course, and she picked Barbie. When she chose this one at Target, we told her it would be fine if she wore a shirt underneath to stay warmer. It was a good compromise...
Our first try at trick-or-treating was at Farmers' Market in SLO. They have a special event the Thursday before Halloween, when kids can go to a lot of the businesses downtown to get candy. We were quite happy to discover that both of our little ones loved it! Lauren remembered this from last year, and was very excited, but we weren't sure about Jon. We taught him to say "trick-or-treat" (which often came out as "I trick-or-treating!") and he was good to go once he realized strangers were handing him candy. He started holding his bag out to any adult he saw. :)
Sunday night was time to carve the pumpkin. Lauren designed a kitty face for the front and was brave enough to pull out the seeds with her hands. Jon looked inside the pumpkin once and was over it.
On Halloween, Lauren and I spent some time that afternoon cutting out bats for our front porch. We had some outdoor lights left over from summer, and I saw an idea on Pinterest to decorate them for Halloween. It was a fun way to welcome trick-or-treaters to our door without being scary.
We had a fun dinner of Mummy Dogs and pumpkin Mac & Cheese with Grandma and Grandpa...
...and then got ready for the main event. We had two VERY excited kids!

I love their trick or treat bags ! So cute :)
Go Lauren! We could not get Isaac to stick his hand in the pumpkin for the world. He was so grossed out he actually cried. Reece ofcourse wouldn't do it either. Maybe next year.
