Six

Our sweet girl turned six this year, and it has been a joy to celebrate her. She chose a trip to the American Girl store in Los Angeles for her birthday party, which ended up being a crowded challenge and a joyful delight all at the same time. The ladies of the family met for a luncheon at the American Girl cafe, and gave Lauren money to spend at the store. She went shopping afterward and easily chose several new outfits and accessories for her doll.

The luncheon was so much fun, and very girly. We had delicious food, along with special chairs for the dolls to join us at the table. They brought Lauren a beautiful pink and white cake and sang happy birthday to her. She was overwhelmed at times, but loved the experience, and we are so grateful for the family that made a huge effort to join us there.

That was the Saturday before her birthday, since her actual day was a Tuesday and she had to go to school. However, it was a pretty good school day, complete with a Thanksgiving feast, an assembly where she received an award for passing her timed math test, and birthday cupcakes at the end of the day. Jon and I got to bring the cupcakes to her class and it was so much fun to see her enjoying time with her friends.

At the end of the day, Lauren chose dinner at McDonald's...

...followed by a gift from Mom and Dad and her birthday cake.

Lauren got to celebrate one more time when Grandma and Grandpa Weyel came to our house for Thanksgiving, and Grandma took her on a shopping spree to Target. She is such an incredibly blessed girl, to have so many people that adore her!

At 6-years-old, Lauren is a true combination of her mom and dad. She expects quite a lot from herself (just like her mom) and is so smart (just like her dad). She is very tenderhearted, sweet, and thoughtful, often making notes and pictures that she leaves for us. Her previous love of princesses has now changed to a love of Barbie, along with American Girl. She can often be found reading in her room or working at her little desk. God has created her to be an amazing person, and our greatest challenge as her parents is to help her see that. We are so very thankful for our Lauren!
