The Night Before Christmas

Our Christmas Eve has become a special time for just the 4 of us. I want the kids to be able to wake up in their own house on Christmas morning, which means we are usually here on our own the night before. We have a special dinner together in the dining room...

...followed by some quick pictures in front of the Christmas tree in our holiday best...

...and then it's off to Christmas Eve service at church. That is usually a challenge, since the kids are with us in the service. This year, Gary was doing the music, which meant I got to deal with Jon crying and screaming, "Daddy! Daddy!" during the prayer, when Gary walked up to the piano. Ah well, it wouldn't be a true Weyel family Christmas if it didn't involve a few Jonathan tantrums.

When we got home, we made sure to leave cookies and milk for Santa...

...and check the Santa tracker on the computer.

And then the kids were off to bed. They were excited but tired, so it wasn't long before they were asleep and Santa made his visit. What a haul!

Lauren got a scooter with a Barbie that can ride on the front, and Jonathan got a new Toy Story bike (so he can stop riding his sister's old princess bike). Of course there were lots of other fun things wrapped up, too.

Santa also filled our stockings (and apparently he was watching "It's a Wonderful Life" while he worked). Everything was set and ready for Christmas morning!

All I can think of is Jacob and Gary doing "Marrrry..." or "Mr. Potter!" Jimmy Stewart impersonations when I see that movie. I'm sure you hear it too. :) Wouldn't be Christmas without it. We miss you guys too!!!
