1. Did you watch the Academy Awards last Sunday? I did, thanks to my wonderful husband. He made me an appletini, sat me down on the couch in front of the TV, and then did the most amazing thing: He took both kids and LEFT THE HOUSE. It was quiet. I had it all to myself. Glorious, I tell you.
Even more fun is that my sister and mom won tickets to sit in the bleachers at the red carpet. I found them in the background behind Robin Roberts and could text message my sister, things like, "I just saw you take a picture of Glenn Close!" At one point I froze the screen image so I could take a photo of it. Kathryn, this is for you!
See yourself in the background? Look at the very top corner...
There you are! :)
2. Have I mentioned lately that I love my kitchen? Because I do. I adore it. I know it's not perfect to the rest of the world, but I don't care one bit because it's perfectly me. And now it's even cuter thanks to my perky bouquet of gerbera daisies--courtesy of the aforementioned wonderful husband. ;)
3. We are still working on potty-training with Jon Henry, primarily because this boy absolutely refuses to poop in the potty. (Too graphic? Sorry!) If you have any ideas, I'd be glad to hear them, although I'm pretty sure we've already tried it. After 6+ years of diapers, we are so ready to be DONE.
4. Lauren earned her second math award in February. They are suppose to earn four awards total during the school year and then they are pronounced to be a "Math Master." :) Kind of a strange system, and it has been challenging for Lauren. Although she is still considered advanced for her grade/age, math does not come as easily for her as reading. But she has learned some good lessons about practice and persistence, and she was so proud to earn this second award.
5. It may still be officially winter, but spring has arrived on our front porch.
Although the porch looks pretty, the rest of our front yard could use some help, so that is our big home improvement project for spring/summer. We've also been working on some minor projects indoors, but I'll have to save those updates for another post. Off to get the laundry and change a poopy diaper (blech). Have a wonderful weekend everybody!

I love your kitchen too. :)
I wish I had some helpful advice for poop in the toilet. I'm sure you've tried everything already. I just remember it was a good year of accidents with Isaac and he still was in a night diaper until he was 4.5. Thank the Lord, Reece was so much easier. Good luck.
