It's Fall Y'all!

The busyness of fall has overtaken life once again. Every year I know it's coming, and every year seems busier than the last. So many good things (birthdays, holidays, fall traditions) and so much of regular life (teaching 2 classes, both kids in school and activities) keep me from updating this poor neglected blog. So here's one big blog post with a bunch of random fall stuff all shoved together so that I can cross one more thing off my to-do list. Oh, and so that I can save these memories forever! :)

Way back in the end of September, Gary and I got to attend Savor the Central Coast. Lots of yummy food to try, 100+ degree heat, and special time with my man. Have I mentioned lately how incredibly thankful I am that I get to go through life with him by my side?

October arrived, and along with a trip to Roseville, a visit to the pumpkin patch, and Halloween, we had a few other special events. I got to host another baby shower, although this one was a little different. We were celebrating a couple in our bible study who will soon be adopting their second son from Korea. He will likely be about 18 months old when he finally gets to come home some time in 2013. Since it was an unconventional shower in the middle of fall, we went for some unconventional decorations. It was a delight to honor our friend with this celebration!

Another Sunday, we ditched church (shhh, don't tell!) to attend a railroad festival in Santa Margarita. Since Jon is still fully enamored with trains, we thought it would be a fun surprise for him. Due to a large miscommunication on the part of the event coordinators, the train ride ended up being way more expensive than we thought and we didn't get to actually ride. But we did enjoy all the booths and the kids got to ride a little mini-train.

November arrived and we finally made it to our favorite apple farm: See Canyon Fruit Ranch. A gorgeous fall day, delicious apples, and more fall tradition--what more could you want?

Which brings us to our last fall event of this long and random post: Election Day! We always like to bring the kids with us when we vote, to show them the importance of participating from a young age. This year, Gary took it a step further and helped them create their very own voting booth and ballot. We voted for things like "President of the House" and whether or not we should get a pet. (In case you're wondering, nobody won for President, as we each received one vote, and we will not be getting a pet any time soon!) Here are our little patriotic participants.

And that, my friends, is a wrap! Next up on the fall list: Lauren's birthday and Thanksgiving, which happen to be on the same day this year. And then it's a downhill slide to Christmas... :)
