Slipping and Sliding

For the first time ever (at least that I know of!) we had an ice-skating rink right here in SLO. They set up temporary shop at the Madonna Inn, during the exact weeks that the kids were on winter break. Since we've never even taken the kids to the snow (I know, I know: bad parents) we figured we could at least take them down the street to the ice. Lauren was excited to go, Jon was unsure, as usual. Daddy and Lauren set to skating right away and spent the whole hour out there. Lauren did lots of slipping and sliding, and Daddy's arm was sore the next day from holding her up. But she did a great job for her first time and had a blast--most importantly!

Jon refused to go until about half-way through. This is Jon's usual M.O.: watch from the sidelines until he's absolutely sure he's brave enough to try it. Then, one time around the rink and he was done. But he did it, and I'm so proud of him for even taking the chance.

Wanna feel like you were sitting right next to me on the sidelines? Well, here ya go! :)
