Weekend Update

We had a nice, calm Labor Day weekend at home. It was great having Gary home for an extra day, since Lauren and I both love it when he's here. The Jones family stopped by for a visit on Friday night, and baby Davis has grown so much since we saw him in July. He is three months old now and such a cutie. Saturday was our 6th anniversary, and since no grandparents were in town :( we tried out a new babysitter. She and Lauren got along well, and gave Gary and I a couple of hours to go out to dinner. I always forget to take pictures on our anniversary, and this time I remembered just before we went to sleep. (That's why we look so tired in this picture!)Lauren spends most of her time crawling and standing these days. She loves to pull up on everything to stand......and occasionally falls. We took a few walks this weekend to enjoy the beautiful weather. Here we were walking around Sweet Springs and Lauren wanted to grab all of the plants as they went by.Lauren also got to try some new treats. In this picture, she's eating bananas and drinking juice for the first time. Of course she loved them both. She has four teeth now (three on the bottom, one on top) and she puts them to good use.Another first for Lauren: berry picking! We picked blackberries and golden raspberries, and she tried some of each. Although it was warm, we spent about an hour picking and eating, and she seemed to enjoy it--especially the eating part. This morning was Lauren's check up at the pediatrician, which she did not enjoy at all. She started crying the minute I put her down on the table. (She must be remembering previous visits!) Only one shot this time, plus a toe prick to test her blood for anemia--which she passed with flying colors. She weighs 19 pounds 4 ounces, and measures 30.5 inches tall--although, as usual, I think that's a bit exaggerated. Either way, she continues to be a big, healthy girl, and we love it!
