Halloween Fun
I've discovered that doing anything except the bare minimum these days is difficult and exhausting. I just haven't figured out a good balance in being a mom of two yet, and Jonathan is still in the super-fussy stage. However, I was determined to make it a fun Halloween for Lauren and all of us, and we mostly succeeded. :)
It started with a party at playgroup, and all of the kids looked so fun in their costumes! Lauren was very excited to be a princess (Sleeping Beauty, to be exact). The kids did a treasure hunt and had a great time seeking their surprises.
Daddy was off work for the day, so we spent the afternoon carving pumpkins. Lauren was a champ at digging out the seeds! This is one girl who doesn't mind getting messy. Gary did all of the carving, and I think they were the best pumpkins "we" have ever done. I couldn't get very good pictures, but one is Snow White (for Lauren, of course) and the other one says VOTE. It was a good public service reminder for the neighborhood. ;)

In the evening, we tried trick-or-treating. Lauren was so excited, and practiced what to say for most of the day. However, after we had been to the second house, she was over it and wanted to come home. ;) So we came back and made Halloween cookies together before collapsing in an exhausted heap. I know it doesn't sound like all that much, but in addition to constant baby feeding and soothing, it's a lot! I'm glad we were able to enjoy our day together and create good memories for all of us. And I'm hoping that next year will be a little easier...
