First Days

Wow, there has been a serious lack of blog posts around here lately. Have you guys given up on me yet? I honestly haven't even taken that many pictures recently. Our time was sucked up by the kitchen remodel--which is now done, and totally gorgeous, and I absolutely love it! But you can't see it yet, because I still need to pretty it up and take some lovely pictures. Just trust me, it's awesome! :)

The other big events around here mostly involve going back to school. Three of the four of us started school in the last 2 weeks, which means lots of transitions, and new things, and changes. Not something we're necessarily good at, but things that are good for us. And God continues to take us by the hand and lead us through each step and for that I am always grateful.

Jonathan and I got to go back to school together this year, as he is now attending preschool at Cuesta! I love it. No more extra driving to drop him off. I park once at work, take him into school, and then walk the rest of the way to my office. Even more importantly, he has a wonderful teacher that he adores and we have friends in the same class. I was nervous about the transition for him, but it has been so worth it.

Here's our little man on his first day. He's there for half a day, two days a week, and there are times he asks to go more often. Truly, I couldn't be happier about the wonderful class he is now a part of.

Just yesterday, Lauren had her first day of first grade. I think the transition to kindergarten is the hardest for moms, but the transition to first grade is the hardest for kids. She was so excited to see her classroom, as her room last year had all kinds of great play areas and interesting things. When I asked her what her first grade classroom looked like, she said, "It has lots of desks." She also had concerns about the playground, as it is much bigger and she can't even reach all of the bars. It suddenly feels so much more like "real" school.

In spite of all that, she was so very excited to go on her first day. She was awake at 5:30am, and all dressed and ready to walk out the door at 7am. She kept saying, "Let's go, let's GO!" and I had to tell her that her teacher wasn't even there yet. :) I adore her enthusiasm for school and definitely do not look forward to the day when it's gone.

{First grade, here comes Lauren!}

She has two great teachers (they are team-teaching her class, and trade off each week), and her best friend is in her class, so all is mostly well in Lauren's world. I look at these pictures and find it hard to believe she is still only five. She seems so very grown up, and I would be glad to just push the pause button on life for a while...

Such sweet first day pictures. Lauren is adorable and looks so happy. I'm glad the transition has been a good one for Jon. Cheri is such a great teacher. I'd love to see you soon!
