Although the weather hasn't really made up it's mind yet, we are still enjoying springtime around here. One of our first goals was to update the backyard to make a better place for the kids to play this summer. We started by selling off a toddler slide, a small climber, and the playhouse (since both kids were too tall to fit in it anymore) and used that money to buy a small swing set. It has 2 swings (so the kids won't fight over sharing one), a slide, and a glider that both kids can ride together. The first step was to get the swing set built and surprise the kids with it:
The second step was to clear out the yard around it and put in rubber mulch so they wouldn't get as dirty and muddy. (We got this done just in time to share with the cousins on Easter.)
The good news is that the kids love it! They play outside so much more, and I am really thankful that we could change things up to make a better space for them. We still hope to clear out more of the weeds, trim back a lot of the plants, and put down a whole lot more weedblock and mulch. We'll get there. For now, we're enjoying picnics in the backyard....
and pretty spring flowers inside.
Happy spring, everyone!
