We started celebrating the 4th of July on June 30th--that's totally normal, right? :) Actually, we usually host a family barbecue on the 4th, but we happened to have some family in town on the 30th and others in town for the holiday, so we just had 2 barbecues--more reasons to celebrate!
The June 30th event was the end of my sister's family vacation here in SLO, which meant the cousins were here and plenty of noise ensued. Sadly, I took exactly 2 pictures the whole time:
But my sister sent me a few more:
Gary's parents came for a visit just a few days later, and we attempted a Blues baseball game on the evening of the 3rd--they're a local minor-league team. Jon enjoyed the first few innings and paid some attention to the game, which he understood a tiny bit thanks to t-ball. But then he was over it so I took him home and put him to bed. Gary, Lauren, and Gary's parents stayed through the game to see the fireworks show at the end.
Then on the 4th, we spent the morning playing miniature golf. Thankfully we were the only ones there most of the time, so Jon could run around and be noisy while the rest of us attempted to actually play--well, at least for a little while. :)
We had a delicious barbecue that afternoon (thanks to Gary!) with both sets of grandparents, plus a surprise visit from Gary's sister, Toni, and her boyfriend, Jon. Sadly, I only remembered to take one picture this time--but at least it's a good one! :)

Happy birthday, America!
