Back to School!

For the first time ever, both kids are going to the same school this year! Even though they won't have the exact same schedule, it's still pretty awesome for this mama who spends so much time driving kids around. They will both be dropped off at the same time in the morning, five days a week. Even though Jon is still in preschool, it makes it feel like we're moving on to a new stage in life!

This all came about because Lauren's elementary school now has a district preschool at her campus. Because Jonathan still needs extra help with speech, language, and other development, he qualified for this preschool. They recommend that he go five mornings a week, 2 hours on Mondays and 3 hours the other days. I'm a little nervous about the 5 days, and I'm assuming he'll pretty much be a tired mess by Fridays, but I'm praying he proves me wrong!

We went to a school "Meet and Greet" on Wednesday, where both kids got to meet their teachers and see their classrooms. It was an awesome idea, and the perfect way for each of them to feel so much better about the first day of school.

Thursday was our actual first day. Jonathan is in a "regular" preschool class, but he (and a few other kids that need special help) have their own teacher that works specifically with them. He seems to really like his teachers and his classroom, and so far hasn't had any problem adjusting. It really helps that he is so familiar with the school, and now gets to be dropped off with his backpack and snack bag, just like his big sister. God has truly blessed us by orchestrating so many details that have all come together to create the perfect school situation for Jonathan this year.

Lauren had her first day of second grade, and we are also very thankful that she has been given a wonderful teacher--the exact one she wanted! She is a bit nervous, though, because she doesn't know most of the other kids in her class. She is in a first/second grade combo class, which means most of her friends are in other classes. But being one of the youngest second graders, she is actually quite excited to have first graders in her class, so she won't feel so young anymore. :) And we are trying to encourage her that she will soon make friends and this is a great opportunity to pray and trust God!

Overall, we are excited for a great year of school. I am thankful for the ways God continues to take care of my little ones, and to remind me that He loves them even more than I do!
