8 Months Old and Busy

Lauren is 8 months old as of last Saturday, and doing all the typical 8-month-old things. She is babbling a lot (favorite words are "dada" and "baba"), grabbing everything within reach, and trying so hard to crawl. We don't have another doctor's appointment until September, but I tried to measure and weigh her myself. My best guess is that she's about 29 inches long (still 95th percentile!) and between 19 and 20 pounds.

This past weekend we went down to southern California and had a very busy, very hot, but very good time. We celebrated my grandpa's 80th birthday with family on Saturday. Then, we took Lauren to the Long Beach Aquarium on Sunday, where we met Jake, Sharon, and Lauren's 8-month-old friend Isaac. The babies especially enjoyed the touch pool. We spent Sunday night with good friends Jim and Kim, where Lauren got to experience her first time in a pool (which was not a huge success). We wrapped up our trip on Monday with a visit to the Barber family. Lauren and her 7-month-old friend Andrew had fun playing together, although they both wanted to play with the same toy constantly. Finally, Lauren has been exceptionally grumpy the past few days, so let's all pray that comes to a quick end! I don't know if it is due to recovering from our trip, the failed attempts to crawl, or possibly new teeth coming in, but mommy is ready for the grumps to be over!
