My Brown-Eyed Boy

This is one of my new favorite pictures of Jon. He is looking more like a little boy every day, and I just love those big brown eyes. We had his 1-year check-up this morning, and got some rough estimates of his height and weight. (I say "rough estimates" as he was not about to sit still for either measurement, so the nurse did the best she could!) He is about 33" tall (totally off the charts) and 23 pounds (about 50th percentile). Hmmmm, tall and thin.... remind you of anyone?

A few more facts about Jonathan at age one:

*He walks almost all the time, with the cutest little toddler walk. Sitting still is not generally an option for him.

*He points, claps, waves, gives high fives, and does the signs for "more" and "all done."

*No real words yet, although he does imitate a lot of the sounds we make.

*He is figuring out more of his toys, like his shape sorters and pop-up pals. He is exploring the concept of cause and effect.

*Still at two naps a day on most days, and sleeping through the night on most nights. It's definitely an effort to keep this boy sleeping well, as it doesn't seem to come naturally to him. And, we all suffer if he misses sleep!

*Loves his sister and playing in her room, exploring the backyard, watching Sesame Street, and lots of attention. :)

*Prefers milk and his bottles to food, although we're working on it. He does eat a variety of things (except for vegetables), just not very much of it. Our doctor told us to start limiting him to 2-3 bottles a day, so he'll have to learn.

*Gives the best baby hugs and kisses, and his little face just lights up when he sees his family. That's the best part about having a one-year-old. :)

What a great photo! I think I might recognize that shirt. :) It's fun reading all that he's up to right now.
