We were fortunate to do so much Christmas celebrating, even before the holiday arrived. Here are a whole bunch of pictures and a little bit of commentary on our pre-Christmas fun.
It started mid-December with a baking day. Growing up, my mom, sister, and I always had a holiday baking day, so it was fun to recreate that with my mom and daughter. We made two kinds of cookies, both thoroughly decorated by Lauren.
Next up was the preschool Christmas program. Lauren was a horse in the play, which basically means she carried a little horse sign down the center aisle and then sung songs on stage with the other kids. However, she ended up in a dark corner where we couldn't see her, so I had to be one of "those parents" who snuck down the middle aisle in order to catch a glimpse of my girl. But she did great, singing all of the songs and doing the hand motions just like she practiced.
Both sets of grandparents came to the preschool program and sadly didn't get to see much. However, Lauren gave a private performance for Grandma and Grandpa Weyel the next morning, with the help of Daddy on piano.
That weekend was our Christmas celebration with Grandma and Grandpa Weyel. We kicked off the day with our traditional visit to Santa Claus. Lauren did great, as expected. She was excited to see him and told him exactly what she wanted. Jonathan wanted to have nothing to do with the big man in red, also as expected. It was nearing naptime, so we let him have a bottle and Daddy held him next to Santa.
By the way, how cute are these kids? :)
Lauren also got to go for a ride on the carousel.
That evening, we had "Christmas dinner"...
...and then got right to opening presents! In spite of the look on Lauren's face, both kids loved all of their gifts (of course!). We've put everything to good use already!
Lauren especially loved a gift she got from Aunt Toni: paint and sponges in different shapes. She created two "people" that she gave to Jonathan and Daddy for Christmas.
Whew, I'm exhausted and we haven't even made it to Christmas yet! That will have to be in part 2, because now it's time to make dinner. Stay tuned! :)

I totally know what you mean. I should have warned people on my blog. It is pretty long, but it is so hard to capture everything without putting all the info. and some fun photos. Love reading about your fun too. Look forward to part 2. :)
Those kids are so cute!
