Our family vacation this summer was a four-night camping trip in the mountains near Santa Cruz. We stayed in Felton, and enjoyed the redwood trees, the fresh air, and some new experiences with the kids.

One of the best parts was a trip on a small train up to Bear Mountain, where we were able to get off and stay for a picnic. This is one of the things I did with my family as a child, so it was really fun to repeat it with my own kids. Lauren loved the train, Jonathan fell asleep on the ride, and we all enjoyed the picnic on the mountain.

We stayed in an RV (does that count as real camping?) with my sister and her family in an RV on one side and my parents in an RV on the other side. The cousins loved playing together and it was nice to be so close to family. We enjoyed barbecues, walks in the redwoods, playing in the pool, getting ice cream at the campground store, and just sitting in our beautiful surroundings. The biggest challenge was getting Jonathan to sleep well, but what else is new? Everybody was tired and ready to come home by the last day, but so thankful for a great experience.

As always, there are many more pictures of our adventure up at
Our Photo Site. I added some new pictures taken by my dad and sister, so feel free to check it out again if you already did. Of course, you may not want to look at 100+ pictures of someone else's vacation... ;)
